The Arizona Publication Requirement

Most new Arizona LLCs have to run a newspaper notice for three straight weeks. Our Maricopa County address means you skip it entirely.

in Maricopa

After you form an Arizona LLC, the state wants the public to know your business exists. For most counties that means a paid newspaper notice. The rule trips up a lot of new owners, so here is how it actually works.

What is the Arizona publication requirement?

New Arizona LLCs must publish a notice of formation in an approved newspaper for three consecutive publications, within 60 days of forming, under Arizona Revised Statutes Title 29. The notice runs in the county of your statutory agent address.

Who is exempt from publication?

Businesses whose statutory agent sits in Maricopa or Pima County are exempt. The Arizona Corporation Commission publishes those filings online instead. Our office is in Gilbert, inside Maricopa County.

This exemption traces back to House Bill 2447, passed in 2016. It reflects that the two largest counties already post formations on a public database, so the newspaper step is redundant there.

What does publication cost if you are not exempt?

Usually $60 to $300, depending on the newspaper and county. You also carry a deadline, since the notice has to finish within 60 days of formation.

What happens if you miss the deadline?

Skipping required publication can leave your LLC out of compliance and, in some cases, exposed to challenges on your standing. Using a Maricopa County agent removes the risk by removing the requirement.

Pick our Gilbert address as your statutory agent and the publication step never applies to you. New to this? See how to start an Arizona LLC, or read the full breakdown of costs on our Arizona LLC cost page.
